Swiss chocolate manufacturer Barry Callebaut has launched a 100% vegan product extension to its plant-based Plant Craft Indulgence range.
The new vegan M_lk Chocolate took the company two years to develop.
Plant Craft products include chocolate bars, cocoa powders, cake decorations and nut-based paste and fillings.
The company said it created the product to satisfy growing consumer demand for vegan treats, particularly among younger generations.
Pablo Pervesi, chief innovation, sustainability and quality officer and head of gourmet at Barry Callebaut said: "The next generation of consumers is looking for experiences that are tasty, good for them and good for the planet. With that in mind, we aim to accompany the industry in the plant-based revolution".
The creamy 'm_lky' chocolate is made with all-natural ingredients.
The company has dedicated a specialised factory in Norderstedt, Germany for production of plant-based products.
The new, entirely dairy-free production facility will open in the first half of 2021, and it will supply vegan chocolate to the European market.
