Spanish meat producer Campofrío Group has announced its first vegan product launch.
The Madrid-based company has released a plant-based burger made with soy and pea protein, mushrooms and sunflower oil.
The Magic Burger produced at the Campofrío Frescos facility in Burgos joins the Vegalia range with the aim of "responding to the needs of the vegetarian or flexitarian consumer".
The company said its newest product "responds to the desire for the consumer to achieve an experience similar to that of a meat burger, both in flavour and texture".
Eduardo Velarde, marketing director of Campofrío Frescos, said: "The Magic Burger formula is unique and exclusive, the result of months of research, and requires a careful elaboration process down to the smallest detail, in order to offer the consumer a high quality, fresh and freshly made vegan burger."
The burger will be sold in both chilled and frozen versions in major supermarkets and foodservice channels.
Magic Burger is V-Label certified, which means that it is suitable for vegans.
