by Agi Kaja

New plant-based food restaurant Vekitchen is set to open in south London in spring.

The venue located in Battersea will initially launch for takeaway on Deliveroo this month. The restaurant will open its doors for guests after the  lockdown.

The interior design was inspired by Hamptons and south of France with commitment to sustainability, using reclaimed wood for decoration. The kitchen is fully-electric and operated with zero-plastic policy.

Vekitchen founder Ray Duhaney has previously worked in London restaurants including Cheyne Walk Brasserie, Bumpkin, Ronnie Scott’s.

Ayurveda - inspired menu includes soups, stews, cashew mac and cheese, roasted vegetables, hummus,  bean chilli with chipotle corn, plant-based burgers, brown rice and coriander. Sides dishes will include sprout grains, kimchi, sauerkraut. Snack options will include kale crisps, rainbow and green lentil and beetroot tabouleh,  avocado and chipotle corn with black beans.
