Super realistic plant-based pork meat from food tech brand OmniPork, has just launched in the UK for the first time in retail. OmniPork Mince is now available to buy online at TheVeganKind Supermarket.
OmniPork is the WORLD'S FIRST plant-based "PORK" that is highly versatile and caters to the growing demand for Asian plant-based cuisine.
OmniPork Mince is made using non-GMO soy and pea, rice, and shiitake mushrooms. Every 100 grams contains 12 grams of protein and 3.8 grams of dietary fibre. The plant-based pork contains 0mg cholesterol and no GM ingredients, antibiotic-free and hormone-free.
OmniPork mince is succulent, tender, and can be prepared in many different ways: steamed, pan-fried, deep-fried, stuffed, crumbled or formed into meatballs and patties. The product will retail at £3.99 for 230g.
Scott McCulloch, Founder of TheVeganKind said: “When I first cooked OmniPork I could not believe how much it replicated pork. Having not consumed meat or dairy in now nearly 8 years I forgot pork even had a smell, or a taste. As soon as this started cooking it all came flooding back. They have recreated it perfectly, and entirely from plant based sources. Absolutely incredible job from David and the OmniPork team. This will definitely satisfy meat eaters and vegans alike!"
OmniPork initially rolled out in the UK via foodservice in January and appeared on the menus of select restaurants across the country. Another product from the OmniPork range - OmniPork Strip is expected to launch in the coming months.
David Yeung, Founder of Green Monday and OmniFoods said: “Since our pop-up events in 2019 and early 2020, along with overwhelming positive review from many food critics and bloggers, the arrival of OmniPork products in the UK has been long anticipated. With our partnership with VeganKind, OmniPork can officially be omnipresent in the UK”
The brand OmniPork was first launched in Hong Kong in April 2018 by OmniFoods, a food tech company under the award-winning social enterprise, Green Monday Group. The company's R&D team is based in Canada, where food scientists carried out 2 years of extensive research on Asian cuisines and culinary practices to create this all-purpose plant-based meat analogue, which is superior both nutritionally and environmentally—making sure that the ingredients are cruelty-free, cholesterol-free, antibiotic-free and hormone-free.
OmniPork is available in more than 10 countries globally. Since its launch, the brand has received extensive coverage from international media. OmniPork is also widely used by numerous internationally acclaimed restaurants serving specific OmniPork menus, including Tacobell in Mainland China, Bafang Yunji, the largest QSR in Taiwan, Sizzler in Thailand, Prive in Singapore and Four Seasons Hong Kong, JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong and King of Sheng Jian in Hong Kong. OmniPork was recognised by PETA Asia and earned for its mother organisation Green Monday the "Company of The Year 2019.
