Better Nature, an innovative meat-free brand creating nutritious tempeh-based products, have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs, in a bid to raise £1,500,000 to help them towards their goal of owning the natural, meat-free category.
With an estimated 25 million flexitarians in the UK, it's clear people are changing the way they consume food. Better Nature’s clean-label meat alternatives that are just as delicious as they are nutritious are helping to fulfil that new demand.
Better Nature sales have increased 14-fold in the year ending January 2021. They have filed four patents; and have become the world’s first plastic-neutral meat alternatives company.
Elin Roberts, Head of Marketing at Better Nature, told TheVeganKind: "At Better Nature, we remove the same amount of plastic we use in our packaging from the environment, through a partnership with Indonesian social enterprise Waste4Change and rePurpose Global. We'd love to remove plastic from our packaging all together - unfortunately that's not possible right now, so this is one small step we can take in the meantime to show our commitment to being as sustainable as possible, as well as support an organisation having an amazing impact in the home of tempeh, one of our co-founders and some of our team members: Indonesia!"
This raise will help them as they launch into major supermarkets with a nationwide marketing campaign, while continuing to support their innovative new product development roadmap starting with a brand-new meat alternatives range launching in May. Using their own proprietary tempeh fermentation methods, Better Nature are uniquely positioned to naturally increase the nutritional content of their products in a way no other meat-free brand can. Better Nature will soon be launching the only plant-based products on UK shelves to contain their own naturally produced vitamin B12. A vitamin only naturally found in the soil and thereafter animal products, or in fortified food or supplements.
"We've been working hard on lots of exciting NPD and have a new range of all-natural meat alternatives that are just as nutritious as they are delicious on their way. Our indulgent BBQ Ribs, Smoky Rashers, Kebab Strips and Roast Bites will be launching in May - trust us, they're worth the wait!" said Elin.
Christopher Kong, co-founder and Head of Business Development at Better Nature added: “This is such an exciting next stage of our journey. Not only are we getting closer to bringing our delicious and nutritious meat-free products to the mainstream, but we’re creating a community of like-minded individuals along the way. With the help of our investors, Better Nature’s products will become even more accessible, meaning more people will have the ability to enjoy nutritious and delicious foods that don’t compromise on people, the planet or animals.”
Better Nature was founded in 2018 by four foodies - Indonesian-born food scientist Dr. Amadeus Driando Ahnan-Winarno, biochemist-turned- entrepreneur Christopher Kong, product developer Fabio Rinaldo and marketing strategist Elin Roberts.
The company was founded on a mission to end the suffering caused by the animal protein industry and create a happier, healthier, more sustainable planet for everyone. This is why they create protein without compromise - sustainable tempeh meat alternatives that are delicious and nutritious.
"If someone had told me how many amazing vegan options there would be on the market by 2021 when I turned vegan back in 2014, I'm not quite sure I would have believed them! Accessibility is key to making society-wide change and it feels like we're really moving towards that. That being said, beyond buying vegan products I think it's important we try to support businesses that are prioritising creating a better world for people, the planet and animals in everything they do, as they are the ones that will pioneer the most significant change," said Elin.
As one of the UK’s leading equity crowdfunding platforms, Seedrs enables growth-focused businesses to raise capital and create a community, whilst allowing all types of investors to invest in businesses they believe in and share in their success.
Pre-registration is now open for anyone who would like to be part of the private launch on the 23rd March.
